No photo, but it’s interesting so I thought I’d post something. I sorted the car out to take it to Andy’s to make an exhaust system this evening. With it on the ground, I flicked up the reverse switch and it moved backwards all under its own power. Not that there was very much of that, I suspect the battery wouldn’t last very long without the engine running.

All the same, seems a fun milestone.

I trimmed down the dash a bit and mounted the instruments, so far as they go, to the smaller plate; here it is. The space on the right is for the Palm. Traditionally, I put this on the left but the gearchange actuation lever is in the way. I might change the software slightly so as to move the gear indication to the left of the display, although it might not be necessary.

After musing for some considerable time, I decided that I was never going to like the other gearchange and I’d just have to make my own again. So I did, and here it is. It’s essentially a reworking of the one I made for the Fury, albeit reworked for 2010. Specifically as I’ve now got a lathe some bits are rather easier to do.

Hmmm, I seem to have spent a lot of time in the garage recently, albeit hobbling around rather. But, I don’t seem to have made too much progress, and have made at least one rather backward step.

First up, though, is a bit more progress on the electrics. In fact, I’ve just about got it all finished now. For example, I’ve now got all the sensors on the engine such as the oil pressure/switch in the photo here.

I’ve been slowly pressing on with the electrics. In particular, I’ve finished doing the engine loom, easily the most complicated bit, which is shown here languishing in the kitchen. This now fits the car and, as you can see, I’ve taped it all up so it shouldn’t be vibrating to bits at the first sight of a working car.
