It was time for another race meeting, this time at Snetterton. I decided not to go testing, although I did spend the test day there with Dan who was out for the first time in his RGB race car.
There’s another race meeting coming up so I needed to sort the Fury again. After Silverstone I was concerned that I might have deranged the suspension after narrowly missing a spinning Duncan by escaping over the huge kerb at Becketts. I noticed at the weekend that the F1 people were whinging about Monza having put some huge kerbs in. Serves them right, I reckon.
So, I tipped the Spectre chassis on its side-it’s still light enough to do that-and put the Fury in an accessible position and spent a merry 5 hours checking the suspension alignment, which all seemed to be fine. Hmm, that was a waste of time then.
That’s the unmistakable sound of me banging my head into a brick wall. At least that’s what I feel as if I should be doing after last weekend at Snetterton. To say the weekend was frustrating doesn’t come anywhere near it.
We got there last on the Thursday night and parked up in the area of the paddock nominally reserved for RGB. Mind you, we appeared to be a in Stock Hatch city. I was testing on the Friday and, apart from worries about the weather, looking forward to it all.
I’ve been doing a few small things which are essentially about getting the car ready for the upcoming race weekend.
First thing was to fit the rear undertray. This is made rather more difficult that it ought to be because the CBR1000’s fuel pump sticks down rather more than the old tank sump did. I resolves this with this power bulge in the undertray. Not very pretty but it should work OK.
